Google will soon be operating under a new parent company called Alphabet Inc. A rather surprising piece of news for the digital world and beyond, as Google has now become one of the worlds most recognisable companies.
The search company will retain it’s best-known features including, YouTube, Android, search and apps. Some of the newer projects that Google have been working on, such as investment, research, Nest and it’s drone division will be moved under the new company.
Google’s founder Larry Page has said that the aim for this restructure is to create a simpler structure for what had become a very large group ofproducts working under the Google moniker.
In the blogpost, which can be found here, Larry said the following;
This new structure will allow us to keep tremendous focus on the extraordinary opportunities we have inside of Google”
“Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable. The whole point is that Alphabet companies should have independence and develop their own brands.”
Do you think this is a good move for Google, or is it going to make things just a little more complicated? We’ve searched for the answer, but we’re coming up blank.
