How it started...

Dial a Dog Wash first contacted Give the Dog a Bone back in 2008 looking for a website redesign. Dial a Dog Wash were looking towards pushing their business to the next stage, and didn’t feel that they had a web presence that reflect their business in the way that it should be presented.

Dial a Dog Wash are the number one provider of dog grooming, bespoke dog grooming training, business marketing and support in the UK. The initial contact was for their individual website; however, Dial a Dog Wash were about to embark on the franchising of their businesses, allowing people the chance to own their own Dial a Dog Wash franchise in their local area.

Dial a Dog Wash wanted a long-term partner for this project and Give the Dog a Bone were appointed to handle the growing web presence for the company and all the individual franchisees.

The main Dial a Dog Wash website was built as a content management system, allowing Dial a Dog Wash head office to login and make changes to the website as and when. This was a requirement for them as they wanted us to build an online franchisee list, allowing each individual franchisee to have their own page on the main Dial a Dog Wash website.

This part of the build was then expanded due to increasing demand after the Dial a Dog Wash website was completed and made live. Franchisees had seen the work that had taken place for the main branch and wanted their own websites, giving them the ability to market themselves within their own local area.

The journey so far...

Since 2008, Dial a Dog Wash have undergone several web designs with Give the Dog a Bone. Due to the success of the initial website, we moved straight into a redesign after around 18 months, ensuring that the website was usable with mobile devices, in line with the emergence of smart phones.

Improvements were added to the website, including the Drupal 7 Framework which allowed us more freedom for the users of the website. This meant that each individual franchisee could have their own contact section within the main Dial a Dog Wash website.

In line with the redesign, we also managed a redesign for each individual franchisee website, moving their websites over to the Drupal 7 Framework. This gave franchisees much more flexibility when it came to their own websites, all built within the same template, allowing for brand uniformity for Dial a Dog Wash.

In 2024, the Drupal 7 Framework received end-of-life for early 2025. This meant that we were once again going to have the opportunity to revisit the Dial a Dog Wash website. As time had moved on from the last design, Dial a Dog Wash wanted a fresh look and feel that reflected where the business was in 2024.

We felt that due to the large number of franchisees with their own website, that they could benefit from a bespoke website solution, giving the head office even more freedom over their website and their brand. We moved towards a portal-based system, allowing Dial a Dog Wash head office and all their franchisees the ability to login and manage their websites from one place.

All of this was built around one code set, meaning that we could control and update all the websites in one place, and with one click. As we had done previously, we integrated new features into the website including Instagram integration, Google Analytics and Reviews and a postcode service area map.

The website also includes a bespoke content management system, giving everyone the ability to login and create and amend their content.
